A Melody Disaster

Complacent in reverie
A broken sudden melody
More now we know the cause
Heavy enough to give us pause
And the misery sags even more
Seems we forgot too long
To sing a finer joyous song
Now we crave held back revenues
As we speed up and down avenues
We feel we’re racing against time
Fearing we won’t cross the finish line
“Will humans ever evolve?” a squid inquires
As we ask “when will you evolve to know desire?”
Let me gently hold your tentacle so you know
You don’t have to languish in your distant snow
We welcome you back home because we need computation
Machine or flesh you can help restore our reputation
Our hearts and brains may seem maddening to decipher
